THE PH.D PROGRAM

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business program provides learners who have obtained a professional master's degree a means of exploring their personal readiness to become leaders in management professions. Learners gain a mastery of business administration literature and demonstrate their competence by applying this knowledge to current business environments. A Doctorate is the ultimate reward for people who wish to achieve above average results and are willing to meet the challenges of life.

The HU's Ph.D. is designed to be completed in approximately three years through a flexible online format that allows students to maintain professional and personal commitments. This program can be completed via the Internet, allowing students to study at times and places that fit their schedule.

REQUIRED COURSES

Master degree holders are required to complete at least 30 graduate units (10 courses) plus a doctoral dissertation. The 11 courses are:

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

Doctoral candidates are required to complete 30 graduate units and to submit a dissertation consisting of original research. Students have to achieve at least a grade of C (2.0) for required courses that counted toward the degree and maintain an average grade of B (grade point average of 3.0).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

In order to be eligible for the entry to HU's Ph.D. program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Master degree in related field; and,
• Demonstrate the ability to succeed in the doctoral program

APPLICATION

All application must be submitted to Honolulu University (HK) Representative Office. Each application package must contain:

• A duly completed application form
• Academic transcripts, proof of work experience and resume
• One passport-sized recent photo
